We might as well start at the beginning, as in the day that your baby is born! Research supports the idea that children who are breastfed are less likely to become obese; however, the extent and duration of breastfeeding is important. The rationale for this is not entirely clear, but some factors may include the specific make-up of human milk, and the infant's ability, when breastfeeding, to independently appreciate fullness and decide when to eat and when to stop.
