Many of us have trouble getting the proper amount of restful sleep on a nightly basis. One newly recognized problem is called digital toxicity, which refers to the light emitted from devices that decreases the production of melatonin, a necessary ingredient for proper sleep. To enhance your chances of getting a good night’s sleep, consider these important tips:
  • Make your bedroom dark and peaceful
  • Make your bedroom a "tech-free" zone (e.g., no television or cell phones)
  • No pets in the bedroom
  • Turn off your Wi-Fi router each night (due to the energy that is emitted)
  • Reduce the bedroom temperature
  • Get outdoors during the day (it is shown to enhance circadian rhythms)
  • Try meditation
