Powerful Tip #23 – Learn More About Phytochemicals

In my previous post, I discussed the benefits of berries, one of which is they are rich in phytochemicals. The name comes from the Greek word phyto meaning plant. Phytochemicals are naturally occurring plant chemicals with powerful properties and health benefits such as:
  • Stimulation of the immune system
  • Preventing substances that we eat, drink and breathe from becoming carcinogens
  • Reducing the type of inflammation that makes cancer growth more likely
  • Preventing  DNA damage and assisting with DNA repair
  • Slowing the rate of growth of cancer cells
  • Triggering damaged cells to commit suicide before reproducing
  • Helping with hormone regulation
